Winter Activities: Bird Watching

Bird watching is another favorite winter activity. Here are a few photos I took Friday as the birds prepared for the cold weekend. Sometimes the squirrels will come to feed as well. We actually had deer footprints as well as an unidentified set of animal footprints inside the fence the other day as well. We have since replaced the hanging feeder in the photos with a larger feeder so we don't have to refill so often. I'll try to get activity at the new feeder shortly. The bluebirds, chickadees and swallows are fighting for the birdhouse at the other outside corner of the fence. None of them will start nesting until at least April.

Next month, we'll hang the hummingbird feeders so the early arrivals will have something to eat.

Have a nice day!
